Kingsport Police Identify Culprit in Stabbing

Charles E. Bowers, Jr. is accused of stabbing a man last night in Kingsport.

UPDATE // 10:45 a.m. Kingsport police report that they have arrested Charles E. Bowers Jr., 64, of 1121 East Center St. Kingsport and charged him with aggravated assault in reference to last night’s stabbing. Bowers reportedly confessed to being the man responsible for the stabbing. He will be arraigned today in sessions court.

A man is in critical condition this morning in Kingsport, after police say someone stabbed him overnight.

Kingsport Police say the stabbing happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning on the 1100 block of East Center Street.

Officers say they found a man who was stabbed in the neck and they say he was bleeding profusely.

Emergency medical crews rushed him to Holston Valley Medical Center, where police say doctors performed surgery.

Officers haven’t released the name of the stabbing victim yet, but they tell us he is in critical condition.

There is no word yet if anyone has been arrested or if police are still searching for a person of interest.
