Johnson City’s historic train depot will soon hit the auction block. Johnson City Development Authority Executive Director Suzanne Kuehn says the JCDA will be there next week when the property, which is now in foreclosure, is sold.

Last summer, the JCDA offered up to $400,000 for the property along State of Franklin Road, but that was offer was turned down. Kuehn says her agency is very interested in the old depot, but just doesn’t have the money to buy it.

The depot will be auctioned off on June 23rd at 11:00 a.m. on the steps of the Washington County Courthouse in Jonesborough.

Mr Jones had to fight City Commission every step of the way to get anything done, the sdame way david Taylor did over the Property at State of Franklin and Market St. Both gave up. Welcome to Johnson City, where City leaders only know how to tear things down, and have no concept of historic preservation. They’ll have Memorial Stadium torn down if they have their way.
I don’t blame Mr Jones for leaving. I wouldn’t have stayed as long as he did, dealing with the idiots who run this town. Johnson City’s loss is Asheville’s gain. THEY know how to do things right in Asheville.

I just hope City Commission will listen to the people…but it will be the first time.
