Johnson City Blotter: July 16 - July 19
What follows is a sampling of incidents reported by the Johnson City Police Department.
Sunday, July 19:
Johnson City Police responded to a call concerning a car parked in the middle of the road
When officers responded to the 2600 block of Westwook Street, reports state they found a Lincoln Town Car sitting in the middle of the road. Harvey J. Carver, 45, of 702 North Barton Street, Johnson City, was behind the wheel. Carver was found to be a habitual motor offender. He was arrested and taken to the Washintong County Detention Center.
He is being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond and will appear in court later today.
Friday, July 17:
Lowe’s reports two John Deere lawnmowers stolen
Officers with the Johnson City Police Department responded to Lowe’s, 180 Marketplace Blvd., in response to a reported theft. When they arrived, police say they met with an employee who said that Joshua C. Davis, 31, 925 Hermitage Drive, Mt. Carmel, Tenn. stole two John Deere Lawnmowers on July 15, two days prior. The lawnmowers are worth an estimated $499 each.
After an investigation, police have arrested Davis and charged him with one count of theft over $500. He is currently being held in the Washington County Detntion Center on a $5,000 bond. His arraignment is later today.
Thursday, July 16:
Woman didn’t get what she paid for
Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested David Gross, 50, of 310Parks Worley Road, Bluff City. Gross is charged with theft of property over $1,000. His arrest is the result of an investigation into a filed report which states a victim paid Gross for merchandise she never received.
Gross is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond and will appear in court today.
Stolen card leads to identity theft charges
Johnson City Police officers charged Billy Hale, 20, of 187 Raccoon Valley Way, Newport, Tenn. with three counts of identity theft.
Hale’s arrest is the result of an investigation into a stolen credit card that was used at three different locations in Johnson City, according to police.
Hale is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.
Argument escalates into stabbing
Officers of the Johnson City Police Department arrested Jimmy Jenkins, 53, of 700 Nathaniel Court #67 Johnson City and charged him with one count of aggravated assault and public intoxication.
According to police, the arrest is the result of a report in which the victim stated he and Jenkins were outside the apartment complex where Jenkins lives and Jenkins reportedly pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest and his hand.
Jenkins is currently being held in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.
