Historic tree topples on Tusculum College Campus

The historic oak tree’s massive roots loom high over the grass on the Tusculum College Campus.
Wind likely caused an approximately 200 year old tree to fall yesterday on the campus of Tusculum College in Greene County, a school spokesperson said.
The tree near the President Andrew Johnson Museum and Library damaged a truck and a car when it fell.
No one was injured.
“The age of the tree could not be exactly determined as the center of the tree was hollow, but from the rings that could be counted it appears to have been at least 200 years old,“ a news release said.
Tusculum College was founded in 1794.
