Winds blew down power lines along Main Street in Wise, Va.

Update at 12:56 p.m.

More damage reports continue to pour in.
Wise County has issued this statement on its website:

“Due to high winds, the Town of Wise has power poles and trees down. Please be alert and very cautious when driving.  Several power poles and trees have fallen hitting homes and blocking streets in the area.“

High winds are doing damage around the Tri-Cities region.

Here are just a few of the reports we’re hearing over police scanners:

A tree is down on Shook Branch Road in Carter County.
Wind blew the window out of Clinchfield Drug Store in downtown Erwin.
A tree fell across power lines near the National Guard Armory in Erwin causing a power outtage in the Erwin area.

A high wind warning is in effect for much of the viewing area through 4 p.m..
