Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office
A Hawkins County woman is charged with aggravated domestic assault after police say she tried to stab her husband with a kitchen knife. On November 2, a sheriff’s officer was dispatched to 191 Little Pumpkin Valley Road in Eidson, Tennessee, for a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, an officer was met by Jeremy Trent, 30, who told him that he and his wife, Janice Trent, 25, had been in a verbal dispute. Jeremy said that when he called her a name, Janice took a kitchen knife that she was using to fix sandwiches and jabbed at him, striking him in the face causing a small laceration on his left cheek. Jeremy then grabbed her around the neck in self defense and knocked the knife out of her hand. She then scratched him with her finger nails, causing marks on his neck and chest. Jeremy said Janice then called 911. Janice had left the residence prior to police arriving. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office located her at her parents home in Hancock County, and detained her until a Hawkins County officer arrived. Janice Trent was arrested on scene, charged with aggravated domestic asssault and transported to the Hawkins County Jail for booking.
