Fun Fest marches into week two in Kingsport, TN.

The overall celebration is billed as “fun for all ages” but organizers say there is one place where children come first. That is Kids Central.

Andrew Johnson Elementary School at 1001 Ormond Drive will transform into ground zero for youth activities at Fun Fest 2008.

Kingsport’s Girls Inc. will host a myriad of week-long workshops and events specifically for children. These workshops or “fun-shops” include ballet, jazz, painting, arts and crafts, among other activities.

Kids Central runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. all week long.

To signup for classes participants should register at the Fun Fest store 30 minutes prior to their fun-shops of choice.

There is also a Splash-Dance in the streets Wednesday. Fun Fest Communications manager Emily Kilgore says area fire departments will bring and engine and hose to spray water across Ormond Drive. Children can dance and party in the street with slip and slides, water balloons and buckets.
