Our country has one of the highest per-capita prison populations in the entire world? Why is that so, and was it always that way? Does the U.S. really want to win the profitable war on drugs? Why or why not?
This would fix our budget, but it would take to much money from lawyers.
LEGALIZE AND TAX MARIJUANA
We all know the reason Marijuana is illegal is:
1. Protect the Prison Industrial Complex
2. Give cops a reason to steal your car and house
3. Gives Lawyers and Judges jobs
4. Protect Big Oil and Big Drug companies
5. Protect the Beer and Wine industry
6. Keep Dupont in business because Hemp is much better than fake clothes
7. Protect the rich and old money
and many other reasons space will not allow to explain

I do not understand why marijuana takes the lead on this story. The mis-use of prescriptions drugs is the real problem. The pot is an after-thought and should have been the least emphasized portion of this story. It is also the least harmful of the items mentioned.
Channel 11 got it in the wrong order as far as priorities go.
The continued clamp-down on weed has done nothing but resulted in log-jamming our jails and court systems while a primary cause of drug cartel killings south of the border and withing the states. It’s about time we started treating this like liquor, regulate and tax it to recoup some of the costs.
...and another one bites the dust!
Marijuana needs government regulation. We should tax marijuana and put age limits on it so we can control it’s availability and its quality. Marijuana sales currently benefit criminals, and 2/3 of Mexican Drug cartel profits come directly from marijuana. Legalize marijuana and take the control and money away from organized crime. Let legitimate businesses distribute marijuana and we can tax it to help pay for rebuilding our roads, hospitals, and schools. Stop treating responsible marijuana consumers like criminals and start focusing on real crime. In 2007 we arrested 875,000 Americans for marijuana offenses. That’s more than all violent crime arrests combined.
