Elizabethton, Tenn.—The rain remained at bay long enough for Carter County to celebrate its first-ever “Octoberfest” in downtown Elizabethton Saturday.
The people brave enough to “brave” a little wind enjoyed live music, face painting, and plenty to eat by the historic covered bridge.
The event started at 10 a.m. and wrapped up at 6 p.m.
Organizers said they were pleasantly surprised by the turnout.
“We’ve had the red hat ladies in town this weekend too,“ Elizabethton Carter County Tourism Director Larry Gobble said. “They were here first thing this morning before they got on with their activities.“
“Octoberfest” hosted 70 vendors.
