Kingsport, Tenn.—An outbuilding at Christ Fellowship Church, 260 Victory Lane, caught fire Monday afternoon.

Warrior’s Path Fire Department received the call around 1:15 p.m.

The fire had burned through the roof and flames were were visible by the time crews arrived, firefighter Greg Tennar said.

Crews had to fight the fire in shifts.

“A lack of water and lack of manpower on a Monday {made things difficult}, but we did save the church itself—no damage—and we contained it to the building it started in,“ Tennar said.

It’s possible the fire started at a stove in that outbuilding, Tennar said.

Warriors Path, Bloomingdale, Sullivan West and Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Departments helped contain the fire.

Pastor Scott Fogle said the church held youth classes and meetings in the building.

“We were just glad no on was hurt,“ Fogle said.  “One of our staff members actually noticed the fire and called 911,“ he said.
