A Fall Branch couple has been indicted for selling prescription narcotics after an investigation which began last March.

According to Sheriff Ed Graybeal, Deputies arrested Mary E Murray; age 65; 304 Butchertown Road, Fall Branch and Buster J Murray; age 82; of the same address on a Criminal Court Presentment charging the couple with Maintaining a Dwelling Where Controlled Substance is Used and Sold.

Reports state the investigation revealed the pair had illegally diverted large quantities of prescribed medication and sold it to various persons from their home.

A search of the couple’s home resulted in recovery of drug ledgers, a large sum of cash totaling approximately $33,000. Due to the age of the offenders and the large amount of evidence in the case it was presented to a Washington County Grand Jury, which issued a presentment for the couple’s arrest.

The Murrays are currently being housed at the Washington County Detention Center. Each Murray has a $10,000 bond and each is scheduled for arraignment at the Next Term of Washington County Criminal Court.

(galaxy3) Well said, so true !! However, doctors take an oath just as judges do, they should not punish their patients that need chronic or terminal pain management because of people who abuse the system !!!! Patients have rights and untill the doctor has reasonable cause to suspect a patient is abusing the system, they have no right to question or deny that patient’s need for pain management !! There are honest people who do need pain medications, not everyone abuses the system !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Betcha’ that if patients started suing doctors that deny them just because they don’t believe that patient doesn’t need pain control, would be a lot less “scared” docs around ???

It is unfortunate, but obvious, that these people knew what they were doing was illegal, especially with the large amount of cash they had in their home, and they were most likely on a state aid or govt plan for their medication, which they abused, by getting large amounts and selling the drugs, this is why the states are cracking down so much on honest people that really have chronic conditions that need the medications but is getting more difficult to obtain from their doctors, because it is people like them young and old alike that are abusing the systems and tieing the doctors hands to where they can’t help thier honest patients. It is unfortunate due to their age, but this makes it all the more serious, they knew how to work the systems.
