Members of the Virginia Air Pollution Board made a decision on Wednesday that will have a lasting affect on the Southwest Virginia. Dominion Virginia Power has already begun some site preparation for the 1.8 billion dollar plant in St. Paul, Virginia. Department of Environmental Quality representatives and Dominion Power officials went before the board to determine whether to issue Dominion the permits needed to open the plant. They talked about the coal that would be used to fuel plant and the impact it would have on the environment.
“The facility will be fitted with the latest in emission control technologies which will remove sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, particulates, mercury and the other pollutants,“ said Pam Faggart, Dominion Virginia Power.
On Tuesday people in favor of and against the plant voiced their opinions to the Virginia Air Pollution Board members.
Now that the needed permits have been granted to Dominion, construction is expected to begin immediately.

Yes we need power,BUT why should this be any surprise.  Dominion would not have spent one cent if they thought for one minute the permit wouldn’t be granted.  Play dumb if you wish, but any half intelligent person knows that Dominion had no doubt “greased” every palm they need to in the beginning.  Public hearings are pretty much all a farce, just to cover procedures required.  BIG MONEY TALKS.  So now, for all who opposed this and spent your hard earned money, what was it all worth to you in the end.  Dominion Wins, there should never had been any doubt of what the outcome of this would be!!!!  What say you, now????

pollute us some more, it was nice knowing you St. Paul, soon you will look more like Pound or Appalachia.  Our mountains will be blown up, our communities will be destroyed more.  Our health care in Wise County is abysmal as to what is considered an acceptable standard of care.  We don’t really matter, after all we are just redneck hillbillies.

Who did not see this coming?

There has never been respect to the environment in the Appalachian region in regards to industry.
