Event to feature variety of crafts, food, more Nov. 27-29 at Viking Hall

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Shine up your shopping shoes.
It’s time again for the Country Christmas Show, kicking off the day after Thanksgiving at the Viking Hall Civic Center in Bristol, Tenn.
Held Nov. 27-29, the show features a variety of vendors offering all kinds of handcrafted goods, said organizer Daisy Carroll.
“We have Amish baskets. And we have a lady who makes hand-felted hats,” Carroll said. “And we have a lady coming from Atlanta this year, and she is monogramming tote bags on site.”
Add that to a mix of reindeer, made of sassafras, plus primitive home decor, snowmen, jewelry and old-fashioned toys.
“It is a craft and gift fair,” Carroll said. “There’s a big mix. And, that way, there’s something for everyone. You’ll appreciate the handmade items that’s there. And if you’re looking for the unusual, it’s there.”
You can also eat. Look for kettle corn made outside the Viking Hall plus all kinds of other food, including homemade fudge, hot sauce, gourmet grape juice and old-fashioned Christmas candy, Carroll said.
You can also meet author J. Russell “Jack” Rose, who has crafted several novels set in and around the local area.
Now the president of the Appalachian Authors Guild, Rose of Bristol, Tenn., is signing copies of his works throughout the weekend.
Other authors coming to the fair include Linda Hoagland, Gary Varner, Adda Leah Davis and Darryl Fleming.
A children’s area is also available, where kids can make their own mugs or paint their own Christmas ornaments, Carroll said.
Food donations, meanwhile, are being accepted for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
“The Country Christmas Show is a great tradition and kickoff for the holidays,” said Darlene Cole, the venue manager at Viking Hall. “It’s a warm place for both vendors and shoppers.”
