Oct. 5

* Police hauled a woman off to jail after she parked her car on the railroad tracks behind Ryan’s restaurant on Euclid Avenue and took off on foot. When officers caught up with her around 12:40 a.m., she failed a field sobriety test.
* Two dirt bikes were seen speeding “very fast” behind Food City on Euclid Avenue around 6 p.m. A spectator told police the bikes had “almost been hit by cars.”
* A bearded man in a muddy white shirt was begging for money at the entrance to Walmart around 6:15 p.m.
* After several people “came beating on his door and accused him of selling drugs,” a Maple Street man called police at 8:20 p.m. He said they drove off in a gray SUV, heading toward Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
* Two teenage boys squatted at the Krystal drive-through to bum money and cigarettes from paying customers.
Oct. 6
* After failing to jimmy the back door of a Preston Street business at midnight, a man was arrested for public intoxication.
* Moments after a man tried to drag a woman from the backseat of their blue Chevrolet at 1:35 a.m., the couple drove off toward Lee Highway.
* Police caught up with a dark-clothed man standing in an alley off Moore Street, who was “yelling and cussing at people as they walk through” at 8:30 p.m.
* A guy wore his sunglasses at night to “act strangely” on State Street. Around 11 p.m., a person called police to report that a man in shades and a leather jacket was “peering” in car windows, “walking around” and looking into vacant buildings.

Oct. 4

* When officers caught up with a 2006 Subaru SUV that turned into a Volunteer Parkway parking lot at 2:40 a.m., they found the driver lying in the backseat. He was arrested for driving under the influence. 
Neighborhood Watch
* The Washington County Zion Community Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Zion United Methodist Church in Damascus.
* The Melvin Hills and Oak Hill Estates Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Pleasant View United Methodist Church on Lee Highway in Abingdon.
* The Ridgecrest Town Apartments Neighborhood Watch will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 2 Heritage Drive in Bristol, Va. The meeting will focus on children and Halloween safety.
* The Konnarock Neighborhood Watch will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Konnarock Community Center on Whitetop Road in Troutdale.
