Baby Dead; Father Arrested

After getting a call for a rescue quad, Scott County dispatchers sent an emergency team to a home on Ohio Street in Dungannon, Virginia shortly before 10 am Monday.
The emergency team found a 5 month old, dead.
When deputies arrived, they found drugs and got a search warrant. They collected evidence and the investigation into the baby’s death continued through Monday evening.
The preliminary autopsy results showed the baby died of possible suffication. Tuesday, deputies arrested the baby’s father, Michael Douglas Barton, and charged him with second degree murder.
The investigation into the case continues, and The Scott County Sheriff’s Department said more charges are pending.
Barton is scheduled to appear in court today.

As I sit here looking at my own 15-month-old little boy, it saddens me that someone could do this. I personally know about 3 childless couples that would love to have a child. I cannot think of anything that I would not do for my child including giving up drugs! If I didn’t want to be a parent, I would have gave the baby up for adoption. Even dropping the baby off on someone’s doorstep would have been better than killing the poor defenseless baby. I hope he gets what he deserves!!!
I want to know how the autopsy shows suffocation and they only charge him with second degree murder!!! They need to throw him under the damn jail!!! And why would you have drugs even near a baby??? I am over this people having babies and not doing right by them!! There are too many people in this world who want babies of their own who they would love and take great care of and then you have people who can have them and this is what they do!!!
I can’t imagine anyone hurting a baby like that even though it’s true and people do it, I can’t understand it. There are too many people out there that would love to have a child to love and can’t have them. Why do people kill babies when they could just give them up and allow the child the right to live? I just see no reason at all for things like this to happen ! Anyone that can abuse a baby or a child period is EVIL !!
When I received the call telling me about this happening, I wasn’t even a little surprised. I went to school with that whole family and let me tell you, they come from a whole family full of drug addicts. The sad part is, growing up he was the only one who WASN’T bad. He was always polite, a good student, and never really got into trouble.
His twin was evil as could be and his older brother (who was in my grade) sexually assaulted me and beat me up when we were in like 3rd or 4th grade! Dougie was never like them though and it’s really sad to see that he eventually turned out to be a carbon copy after I left.
I really don’t understand why people can’t care enough about their children to want more for them, to want the best for them, regardless of how their own childhood was. I will never understand why people don’t choose (and yes, it is a choice) to overcome it and be better for their children and break the cycle. That poor baby didn’t ask to be born and he certainly didn’t deserve this.
I consider myself to be pretty darn liberal, but this man is despicable! I can’t believe anyone, for ANY reason could do this to a child. He should be publicly flogged.
I hope they lock him up and thow the key away and while he is in jail I hope finds him big old boy friend named babab the make him feel wright at home for the rest of his life which I hope is very short
I mean what is wrong with people these days. I mean I am sure there was someone out there that would have loved and cared for this baby. I wonder by chance where the mother was at? i agree with “justthefacts” tatoo baby killer on his forehead and send him to prison as well as the other man in the news for killing his baby.
Well, this man looks like a real winner and asset to society. I hope you all can tell I’m being sarcastic. This man needs to have the same thing he did to that POOR INNOCENT child done to him. “An eye for an eye.“ I hope they give him the maximum penatly, because he DESERVES it and more. Anyone that harms a child, is no man, they are a wuss, and cannot fight someone their own size. This article breaks my heart!
And second degree murder?????? This criminal should be charged with FIRST DEGREE MURDER. He was suffocating that child and knew what he was doing and YET HE DID NOT STOP!
THROW THE BOOK AT HIM! I hope he finds a nice boyfriend in jail to take care of him. Inmates in prison do not take to kindly to any sort of person that harms innocent children!
I’m kind of shocked that the usual cast of liberals haven’t come to this fella’s defense. Come on guys, give us some reasons this guy did this to a baby. Maybe he got spanked when he was young? Maybe teachers didn’t show him enough attention? It couldn’t be his fault, could it?
It couldn’t be simply because he’s a terrible, uncaring person either. I’m sure he’s quite nice. I bet he’s just misunderstood.

Pitiful…..just pitiful. Someone out there would have loved to care for the baby he has killed. Don’t know these folks, but all too often the child is a “check”. You see the signs all the time speaking of abortion…. “its not a choice, its a child”. We need them that say “Its not a check, Its a child.
