Al Gore At ETSU
GORE VISITS ETSU
GORE VISITS ETSU An inconvenient ticket shortage at east Tennessee State tonight—where a former vice president turned environmental activist will visit. Al Gore is set to deliver a lecture on Thursday.
It’s a hot ticket for a man now known for fighting global warming.
Chris Carroll said,” The student government did approach the College of Public Health and were willing to try to help shoulder the financial burden to move the speech from a smaller venue to the Mini Dome”.
Dr. Randy Wykoff , Dean of the College of Public Health at ETSU said,” The truth is that there is no venue large enough to hold the entire student body.” He also added,” Were exploring weather there might be other venues where we can simulcast the presentation.”
The seventeen hundred tickets disappeared quickly.
The school hopes to figure out how to include more folks next week.

Al,
The growing cold is becoming embarassing!
How cold does it have to get before you admit you were wrong?
Please admit you screwed up, and the world is getting colder, not warmer.

I respect your opinion vic but reading one of Gore’s books is the last thing I intend to do. Someone that says what he does and then flies around in a private plane like a Gulfstream Jet and lives in a house that takes more electricty in one month than the average house does in a year and then screams about global warming the way he does in my opinion is a HYPOCRITE and I refuse to listen to anything he says. You can lecture me all you want to I don’t care. Face it he is making millions of dollars from his stand and the awards he won has politics stamped all over them and I think the money that is being spent to bring this HYPOCRITE in could be spent at the college in a lot better ways to benefit the students.
Does anyone know if Al is in town for the Bristol race, maybe the ETSU staff can wheel him into that place.
I am looking forward to hearing former Vice President Al Gore next Thursday. I shall be sitting in the auditoreum too, having made the proper arrangments before tickets ran out as they quickly did. And the reality of the situation is that he is absolutely, positively no hypocrite. His statements have been very consistent for many, many years.
Did you know, seawing, that after graduating cum laude from Harvard, Al Gore enlisted in the army. The month before he got married, Gore earned the honor of being named ‘Soldier Of The Month’. After his honorable discharge he went to the Vanderbilt University Divinity School while also working as an investigative reporter in Nashville. The responsibilities of family, after his 1st child was born, saw him leaving school and working full time for a while. Eventually, though, he began attending the Vanderbilt University Law School.
When the political situation changed in Tennessee, Al Gore began serving as a State representative to the U.S. Congress in 1976. For 17 years, he continued to represent the interests of Tennesseans, changing the “hat” he wore from Congressman to Senator in 1984. Then, of course, he began serving the country as Vice President in 2000.
Meanwhile, his wife & he had three more children.
It’s not just for being a successful family man and for his political accomplishments, obviously, that Americans listen to Al Gore. Last month he won a Grammy Award. Before that, he won an Emmy Award & also an Oscar at the Academy Awards. He was also a co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize before he won his Grammy.
Former Vice President Gore’s investigative skills has allowed him to gather & assess information which he has used as the bases for numerous books & papers pertaining to ecology, global networking, “putting people first”, economics, science & technology, cyberspace development, “common sense government” & the American family.
He has also demonstrated successful business skills during his career. Today he is, among other things, chairman of Generation Investment Managment, is actively involved in non-profit organizations (one of which - the Alliance for Climate Protection - he helped form in 2006) & is a partner in a company organized in such a way as to provide to companies, just starting up, with private equity. These venture capital investments allow Al Gore to share his managerial & assimilated technical expertise with new businesses.
And although, seawing, you fail to appreciate the knowledge acquired by Al Gore and, too, the positive activites for which he is responsible, you would benefit from reading any of his books.
Why anyone would want to hear this HYPOCRITE beats me. If the word HYPOCRITE ever fit anyone it is this guy. He is at the top of the list for “do as I say not as I do”.
