SNOOPY!!!
Maybe even Charles Shultz would be surprised.
Characters from the late cartoonist’s “Peanuts” comic strips have long been employed in advertisements, movies and television programs.
Add plays to the list. Shultz’ beloved beagle receives the stage treatment via the musical “Snoopy!!!” scheduled to run April 3-6 at Virginia Intermont College in Bristol Virginia.
Presented by the college’s theater department, “Snoopy!!!” features the long-beloved dog and includes various other characters from “Peanuts.”
Life lessons and wisdom emerges while seeing life from Snoopy’s perspective. Expect to laugh, perhaps learn and most likely leave with a smile.

EMORY & HENRY OPERA
Opera is for the wealthy. And opera is for those who are not. Opera is for everyone.
Hear for yourself. For $10, opera buffs and curious alike can experience the opera on April 4 courtesy students from the Emory & Henry College Opera Workshop at the Lincoln Theatre in Marion. Students will perform rounds of scenes from various operas.
Stephen Sieck will conduct. Look for passionate performances of such scenes as Mozart’s oft-staged “Marriage of Figaro” (which was once even used in a “Bugs Bunny” cartoon).
Such a chance to experience the opera qualifies as a grand one.

DRYWELL
Rock welcomes multitudes of approaches. Some rockers strike like lightning. Others take the middle road.
Then, there are bands like Drywell. Scheduled to appear at O’Mainnin’s Pub in Bristol Tennessee on April 5, the five-man Kingsport-based band features a style of rock that propels from the acoustic guitar. Those who like MTV’s “Unplugged” will most likely enjoy Drywell.
Led by lead vocalist Adam Ledford and highlighting the considerable talents of guitarists Jason Hartley and Jamie Rogers, Drywell isn’t dry at all. Ledford’s evocative vocals mix wonderfully with the band’s unplugged style. Lyrics aren’t hidden in loudness. Music rings true in the talents of Drywell.
