The Academy of Strings and Bays Mountain Park will present “Bach on the Mountain” Saturday, September 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the beautiful natural setting of the tree-shaded park amphitheater.
This outdoor family concert event is also made possible in part by the Harris Fund of Washington County administered by the East Tennessee Foundation and celebrates bringing families together for fun, classical music, as well as some foot-stomping hoedowns! Come and hear the music of more than 75 children/youth of the Tri-Cities area!  Playing at a high level of mastery, the violin students of the Academy of Strings ages 3 to 19 will perform a variety of music by Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, and others in a casual outdoor setting.
“This is one of our favorite concerts of the year because we have the opportunity to give back to the community and play a blend of classical music and hoedowns,” said Academy of Strings Executive and Artistic Director Tim Barrett.  “Because the children and youth of the Academy of Strings play at such a high level, we are confident they will draw the audience into their captivating musical performance.  This event will be good old fun wholesome family entertainment for all generations with the beautiful natural setting of Bays Mountain Park serving as the perfect backdrop.”
Following park admission of $3.00 per vehicle, “Bach on the Mountain” is a free concert and open to the general public so if you have never visited Bays Mountain Park, or if it has been a while, bring family and friends to come and enjoy a wonderful family day filled with the captivating music of many accomplished young artists in an extraordinary natural setting.
“We are pleased to host the Academy of Strings for this exciting musical event,” said Bays Mountain Park Director Tom Bowman.  “Their reputation of excellence will be a tremendous added benefit to our visitors, who we are sure will enjoy their performance.”
Bays Mountain Park is a 3,550 acre nature preserve featuring animal habitats, 36 miles of hiking trails, and a 44 acre lake. In addition to the free concert, the schedule of the day includes a wolf program at 3:15 pm., barge rides at 2:15pm and 5:00 pm. Cost per program is only $1.50 per person for those who are interested.
In the event of rain, the performance will be held at Bays Mountain Park’s Harry V. Steadman Farmstead Museum.  For more information or directions please call Bays Mountain Park at (423) 229-9447.
