Angela and John Vachon own Urban Synergy in Kingsport. In 2001 they began to redevelop old buildings and turn them into loft apartments or spaces perfect for restaurants, banquet halls and other businesses.

“We didn’t know we had a passion for it until we actually started to experience it and really see the characters that some of these buildings have,“ John Vachon said.

The couple owns 9 buildings in downtown Kingsport with hopes buying and redeveloping more turn of the century buildings in the Tri-Cities.

“We feel that we are bringing the urban flare that is in other areas and bringing it here and really showing that people can have the best of both worlds,“ said John.

More new businesses continue to open in downtown Kingsport and the Vachon’s said they’re proud to be a part of this redevelopment.

“I see it as an art I see it as being able to create a vision for something and actually bringing that vision to fruition. Angela Vachon said.

The Vachon’s are working on several projects including turning this old building on Broad Street into loft apartments and this old bank on the corner of Center and Broad will soon become a banquet hall with room for about 300 people.
