Governor Phil Bredesen, D-Tenn., proposed deep cuts in the state's spending plan for fiscal year 2008-2009 during a speech in Nashville Monday night.

These are some highlights of his proposal:

1.  Cutting funding for TennCare, primary education, and higher education

2.  Eliminating 2,000 state employees

3.  Dropping a planned two-percent pay raise

4.  Setting aside $100 million for unspecified* economic development projects (*Tennessee is one of three states being considered for a new Volkswagon plant)

I would tell the Gov. to sind out why the cost of testing students is so high!
$31 Million Dollars???
Our Teachers test students all the time at school why do we need an outside PRIVATE CONTRACTOR testing our kids and charging so much.
If the Federal Government wants to test our kids the the Federal Government should pay for it. Also I would ask the Governor just how much history does he think the taxpayers of Tennessee can afford to support. Making every Outhouse, Dog House and place where someone slept once an Historical Place is not a good use of tax dollars. How many Monuments do the Taxpayer have to support to secure anyone person’s place in Tennessee History?
