  The Virginia High Bearcats have gone with a proven to winner as their new head football coach.
  Tuesday afternoon Chris Thurman stepped down as Gretna head coach to accept the same position in Bristol.
  In four-years at Gretna, Thurman won the past two Group A Division 2 State Championships, while compiling a record of 47-4.
  Thurman takes over for Terry Smith, who resigned on nov. 7.
  Smith finished with a 21-33 record after taking over the program in 2004.
