PREP BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Tennessee High Tops South

Danielle Montgomery drove to the basket and sunk a layup with four seconds remaining in overtime, giving Tennessee High a 59-57 victory over Sullivan South.
Montgomery finished with a game-high 27 points.
“We had Danielle and they didn’t,” Vikings assistant coach Charlie Tiller said. “We were glad she was on our team tonight.”
South held a 26-23 advantage at halftime, but the Montgomery-led Vikings (2-0, 1-0 Big Nine Conference) battled back.
Makensey Campbell scored a team-high 17 points for the Rebels, while Kim Johnson added 12 points.
Sullivan Central 50, David Crockett 48
Whitney Moody hit seven of her nine free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter and scored a team-high 12 points, as Sullivan Central defeated David Crockett, 50-48.
The Cougars (4-2, 2-0 Big Nine Conference) were 9 of 11 from the line in the decisive final period, and whit 17 of their 24 attempts in the game.
“It’s nice; it’s a good start,” said Central coach Gary Surcey, when asked about his team’s early success.
Lauren Murr scored a game-high 26 points for the Pioneers.
Twin Valley 60, Hurley 41
Katie Jo Lester’s game-high 15 points led the Panthers to a victory over the Rebels in the first round of the Coalfield Clash.
Sydney Gilbert added 14 points and four made 3-pointers for Twin Valley (1-0), which hit nine 3-point shots as a team.
Tara Hall scored a team-high 11 points for Hurley (0-1), while Ashley Daughtery contributed 10.
Virginia High 62, Chilhowie 46
Savannah Pippin scored a game-high 28 points, Adrianne Evans added 20, and the Bearcats used a 26-10 second quarter to blow past the Warriors.
Pippin added 17 rebounds, six steals and five blocks.
Krystal Patton scored a team-high 16 points for Chilhowie (1-1), while Linsey Taylor contributed 11.
John Battle 57, Holston 22
Ashley Bryant scored 11 points and Krista Korpol added 10 as the Trojans (2-0) stopped their former Hogoheegee District rival.
Faith Ritchie and Mary Hand each scored eight points for Holston, now 0-3.
Lee High 63, Rye Cove 50
Makenzie Cluesman supplied 15 points as the Generals took the non-district win.
Jalan McPherson and Chelsea Cluesman each added 14 points for Lee.
Christi Hood led Rye Cove with 19 points.
Ervinton 67, Jenkins, Ky. 44
Chelsea Hill scored 18 points and Kelly Rasnick recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds as Ervinton eased by Jenkins. Kayla Hill added 10 points for Ervinton, while Kim Hill hauled down eight rebounds.
Appalachia 50, Gate City 46
Brittany Craft scored 15 points and Chelsey Boyd added 13 as the Bulldogs posted a non-district win.
Five-foot-one freshman Taylor Evans led Gate City (0-2) with 20 points.
BOYS
East Ridge, Ky. 78, Haysi 42
Chris Fleming collected 11 rebounds and 10 rebounds, but Haysi dropped a non-district game Tuesday night.
East Ridge opened a 20-9 first quarter lead, then held on.
Jenkins, Ky. 63, Ervinton 49
Randy Hall scored 18 points, but it wasn’t enough as Ervinton lost to its Kentucky rival. Caleb Breeding (11 points) and Logan McCowan (10 points) also scored in double-digits in the loss.
