Who Else Will Be Responsible For Earth?
My righteous indignation reared its head when I read a recent letter from Lewis Loflin concerning the “followers of the watermelon cult.” Mr Loflin claims that “The earth is not holy, divine, sacred, etc.” as he rails against the “pantheistic New Age nonsense” advanced by those of us who can clearly see and acknowledge global warming.
Perhaps we are reading from different Bibles, but mine states that “the earth is the Lord’s ... the sea is his and he made it, and his hands prepared the dry land.” That clearly makes it holy, divine and sacred to me.
If we don’t assume responsibility for stewardship of the Earth, who will?

For Less Government, I have already written Webb and Warner regarding this legislation. I hope that the Senate will exercise some common sense and reject this legislation.
I guess we can hope, but these two have pretty much went with the Obama program at every turn. Seems Virginia’s turned left due to the large influx of northeasterners that have moved to northern Virginia, to lap at the public trough. With Boucher and these two as our Senators, it will probably be some time before we are represented in Washington.
Climate change legislation is soley about taxation to cover the massive spending that is currently going on.
My opinion B.O. could care less about the environment than he does for his spend then tax agenda. Trying to mask this as a tax on Big Oil, Big Coal, Big Power Companies, or Big Whatever doesn’t cut it with me, nor should it with you. It is a direct tax on the consumer. I find it hard that many people don’t understand this.
Remember that the Honorable Rick Boucher voted the partyline rather than for the well being of his constituants. God help us. We have no one represnting our interests. Think Webb will do any different? I can only hope.
While the Al Gores’ of the world have made many millions of dollars preaching climate change and we are all about to see double and triple costs in our utility bills due to “cap and trade”, no one seems to have mentioned the real issue.
What we should be worried about is humankind’s out of control population. Does anyone realize that there are more humans alive today than have ever lived (and died)in all of time? Our Mother Earth does not deal well with population explosions and has dealt with this problem quite efficently in past mass extinctions.
Dominant species have always met a fate that is not so plesant.
We have scarred, burned, trashed and polluted every corner of our Earth. Don’t believe it?? Try to go somewhere that humans have not trashed. You will not find that place.
Native people(and other cultures) have preached “Earth Changes” for a hundred years or more. This is a natural process that we should not be so vain as to assume we have the ability to cause or change. All we can do is walk softly, be thankful and respectful to our living Earth Mother.
“Climate Change” is NOT man made. It’s a natural process and the sun is in control. There are more than 31,000 scientist and a lot more private citizens who will agree.
If Ms Smith-Briggs could clearly see, which is at the least suspect, she would have seen or heard the latest report that the planet is cooling. Is it true? I don’t know, but that’s the latest report.
She’s obviously not up to date on the latest vernacular, or she would have used the term “climate change”. She quite possibly, with the recession, has had to let her Mother Jones subscription expire.
