Who Else Will Be Responsible For Earth?
My righteous indignation reared its head when I read a recent letter from Lewis Loflin concerning the “followers of the watermelon cult.” Mr Loflin claims that “The earth is not holy, divine, sacred, etc.” as he rails against the “pantheistic New Age nonsense” advanced by those of us who can clearly see and acknowledge global warming.
Perhaps we are reading from different Bibles, but mine states that “the earth is the Lord’s ... the sea is his and he made it, and his hands prepared the dry land.” That clearly makes it holy, divine and sacred to me.
If we don’t assume responsibility for stewardship of the Earth, who will?

Chester, granted 11 years is not 100 years. However, would you at least concede that since the trend is downward at this point in time, there may not be a need to disrupt our economy and place unnecessary hardship, in the form of higher energy prices, on the entire population.
There are 31000 scientist across the country, including 9000 PHDs, who’ve signed a petition stating that there is no scientific evidence that carbon emissions cause global warming. Now, is it true? I don’t know, and I don’t think you do either.
EaTn, my responses are formulated by me. I don’t parrot anyone else. However, I do read books, and those books generally are in line with my ideology, which is summed up best by the phrase “When it comes to government, less is always better.“
Lewis wrote: “ You again prove my point this is about religion because the science has proven man-made global warming is a lie.“
How then Lewis do you explain the fact that Nasa concluded that the earth is getting warmer and the majority of climatologists have concluded anthropogenic activity is the culprit? How do you rebut that the temperature increase of the 1900’s was probably the largest in the last 1,000 years.
Seriously Lewis are you and Russ actually trying to say that over the past 100 years the earth has not gotten warmer? Is that really your argument? I’m sure you will trot out the latest myth about the past 11 years which you believe somehow show the earth is cooling. Of course, this myth has been debunked as well.
Guys, the debate is no longer whether or not the earth is getting warmer, the debate is what is causing it. At least familiarize yourself with the known facts of today.
As for Lewis’ inane pointing to the overnight temperature of 48 degrees as proof the earth is not getting warmer, well I have debunked that type of argument over and over and over. But, since I am part of this secret religious cabal with intentions of controlling the world through the myth of climate change for the benefit of Marxism, I’ll do it one more time.
We know that there are some scientists who strongly disagree with each other on the extent of warming coming in this century, and on what to do about it. What they do agree upon is that it is important not to be tempted to overinterpret short-term swings in climate, either hot or cold.
In fact, Patrick J. Michaels, a climatologist and commentator with the libertarian Cato Institute in Washington, has long dismissed environmentalists and the media for overstating connections between extreme weather and human-caused warming. (He is on the program at the skeptics’ conference.) But Dr. Michaels said that those now trumpeting global cooling should beware of doing the same thing, saying that the ‘'predictable distortion’‘ of extreme weather ‘'goes in both directions.‘’ In other words guys, pointing to a cold day in the summer or a snowstorm in winter is a distortion of the real debate and proves nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Warming is measured in long term trends, not variations over short periods of time gentlemen. Especially not one night in June. God Almighty! All you guys ever do is spew forth the talking points that Al Gore is a fake and that the fact the earth is getting warmer is a myth, yet you never and I mean NEVER support this bunk with anything other than…well..bunk. Now we can go on over Lewis’ website and see the myriad of conspiratorial and suspect meanderings of many people. But the fact is that the majority of reputable scientists on this matter as well as the academies of science of every major industrialized nation on earth has come to the same conclusion. Here is a hint: It ain’t even close to the argument you peddle here.
I agree that my comments are not always as refined as most of the right-wing ones, but then I don’t have the instant references to click on from Fox, NRA, Rush, and Tea. Just type in the subject, cut, paste and presto- instant right-wing comment.
Another well thought out response from EaTn.
Ms. Joy, I assume you expected that most of the folks commenting to your letter would be belligerent and sarcastic. They are the ones that use the logic that if you close the damper on a roaring fire, the smoke will evaporate as it escapes the fireplace into the room. They can’t accept the past admin putting a muzzle on prominent scientists warning of the damages we’re making to the environment.
By the way Ms. Joy, it was 48 degrees last night on July 3rd in Bristol! There’s your global warming.
Where is the science Ms. Joy? You again prove my point this is about religion because the science has proven man-made global warming is a lie.
And who are you to assume I and others don’t care for the earth? Humans were set above Nature by God, thus your pantheistic nonsense of a divine creation is idolatry. Are you one of the New Age Christians?
Who are you to intrude in my personal business with your idiotic religious beliefs? Sorry but eco-theology as public policy is a violation of the separation of religion and state.

Thanks to Rep. Roe for voting against this latest (but not last) attempt by the international banking fraternity to gain total control of the economy of the U.S., as well as the entire world under a scam concocted by Al Gore, Maurice Strong, David Rockefeller and other power-mad globalists. We are witnessing the birth of a new religion..“radical Environmentalism”, which Mikail Gorbachev once proposed as an “earth religion” necessary for the consumption of the masses…something to get them to accept world government. Cap & Trade will be the ruination of what is left of an already de-industrialized U.S. economy…but that is exactly what these traitors want. Poor slaves are easier to control!!! Senators Corker and Alexander previously voted for the “banker bailout”. Watch them on this one. Remember folks, government is not your friend! It will strip you of your money and your rights. If you can’t see what is happening, you are not paying attention.
If anyone is convinced that the Cap & Trade legislation will have any effect on carbon emissions throughout the world, they are sorely mistaken. This is simply another opportunity for the government to interfere in the free market system. In return for more regulations, we will see higher energy costs and less jobs present in this country.
Unless the developing economies of the world do so using green energy resources, any reductions that MIGHT occur in the US will be exponentially offset by unregulated carbon emissions throughout the rest of the world.
Hopefully the Senate will have a more reasonable outlook on this piece of legislation than the House.
Warner has some business sense. I agree about Webb though. Partyline politics is hard to combat. We know where the congressman’s at. Solely for the party. Not any other rational thought.
