Boucher Hasn’t Responded To Letters From Couple

» 15 Comments | Post a Comment

Moving to Carroll County less than a month before the November 2008 general election, we soon learned Congressman Rick Boucher, a longstanding House of Representatives member, was running unopposed.

One of his campaign claims was that he represents Southwest Virginia values.  That appealed to us as these values were key in our decision to move here. We voted for Rep. Boucher.

A few weeks after the election, we learned that a number of Rep. Boucher’s House votes seem inconsistent with his claim that he represents Southwest Virginia values.

On Nov. 28, 2008, we wrote Rep. Boucher asking him to explain these apparent inconsistencies. No reply.

On Feb. 18, 2009, we wrote Rep. Boucher again. No reply.

On April 21, 2009, we wrote again. To date, no reply.

The rest of the world is thurndering into the next century of robots and hydrogen power and South West Virgina wants to remain in the past.

Well I say let them. The Omish seem to make a good living of tourist coming to see how they did things the old ways. Maybe South West Virgina can do the same.

Much like many of the people and cultures who have been afraind of change got left behind and are now struggling to even get current on education and what could come down the Economic Pike.

Sen. Boucher has been dragging South West Virgina into the future while some are just kicking and screaming about their guns and religion.

Well the Chinesse and India will graduate more kids with GENIUS IQ’s next year that the USA has student.

Soon you can buy a hydrogen powered car and electric power will come from hydrogen too with CLEAN WATER as it’s only waste product !!!!!!!

I posted a note on today’s article regarding Tea Party. The article states that Rep. Boucher had been invited to both. But as he pointed out that lies were being said about the cap and trade and that it would not be a benefit to attend a Republican Rally. I would think that Rep Boucher would welcome an opportunity to defend his views after all he is suppose to represent all of the voters and listen and gather an opinion that best reflects his district. As far as a change to the consitution it is up to the voters to make sure this does not happen. However, one little statement was made by the president to a group this week. The president told the group that they would be happy with the outcome before the end of his term, WHENEVER that may be. Is that maybe one of the reason that he is supporting the ousted President of Honduras because he was taking it upon himself to change the mandated term limits? But it was o.k not to say anything while protestors in Iran would being beaten, jailed and some killed over phony elections results. I would expect our Rep & Senators to speak out against such actions. As responsible citizens maybe might it not be a good ideal to attend a tea party and get a feel for what is happening?

Ea TN;
Oh yes, the grass is always greener…

You have two obvious choices-
Move to SWVA & get some first hand experience, or;
change your representative.  I don’t see that you’re engaged in either alternative.
(BTW, choice #2 will be much more productive!!)

For Less Govt, they don’t have to amend it they just ignore it. I’d like to see it amended once, and that amendment be term limits. Trouble is those that are in would have to propose the amendment, and the likelyhood of that happening is zero.

To bad the founders didn’t have the forsight to include that provision. These lifetime legislators have the best healthcare in the world and they can hang on for years. Of course, the voters keep sending them back because the system rewards seniority, and the more senior you are the more pork you can deliver. That’s why we are trillions in debt. I fear we’ll face some extreme difficulties because of it.

I hate to say it, but if the repubs don’t get control of the house or senate in 2010 we are in deep trouble. And that’s not because I like the repubs, it’s just that that’s the only way we’ll be able to check Obama’s mad dash to socialism and bankruptcy.

Russ,
Your last paragraph says they ignore the constitution when it doesn’t agree with their liberal agenda.  I agree, but I’ll go a step futher.  In the near future you are going to see amendments proposed to change it.  As if our forefathers wern’t wise.

The Manchurian candidate has an agenda, I’m convinced, to bring this country down.  How else can you explain this?  Staggering debt, taking more government involvement in industry, more taxes to send jobs overseas, loving up to evil in foreign countries.  The stimulous package is huge failure.  Am I the only one that sees this?  I don’t think so.  America has always been a huge part of the answer to problems rather than the cause of the problem.  I’m sick of these liberal appologists.

Maybe I’m wrong and I should just trust that this guy is the savior that is overwhelmingly smart and my life is going to be better with his policies.  I don’t know.  It seems to me everything I was brought up to think is right is now wrong, and vise versa.

EaTn, it might surprise you to find this out, but there’s a document called the Constitution. Within that document, that by the way, all US Congressmen are sworn to uphold, are guidelines by which they are suppose to govern. Now, I realize Mr. Quillen was great at bringing home the pork as is Mr. Boucher. However, have you ever given thought to how they were and are at insuring freedom and liberty for all?

Mr. Quillen and Mr. Boucher are complicit in running this country in debt. The debt is now in excess of 11 trillion dollars and unfunded liabilities are nearing or may be 50 trillion dollars. Of course, Ouillen has gone on to his just reward, but Boucher could, in my view, along with many others be tried for treason. Their actions have and are endangering the very existence of this country.

As for the Constitution, they may as well deposit it in the nearest trash can. They only refer to it when it supports their position and ignore it when it doesn’t.

We in East Tn once had a congressman cut from the same cloth as Boucher, Rep. Quillen.  We didn’t call him Rep. Quillen the right-wing republican, we called him Jimmy Quillen our friend.  Sure he voted party lines but you can’t drive more than a mile or so without touching something Jimmy did to support his district.  That should be the first job of a US representative, and that’s why Boucher is popular with a majority of the people.

I knew it wouldn’t be long until the Boucher loyalists surfaced. My idea of a leader is not how good he is at taking from one group and passing it on to another.

If you review Boucher’s votes you will find that he, more often than not, sides with the far left. I know you Boucher loyalists don’t want to believe that, or maybe you don’t care, but that’s a fact.

I’ve been to his town meetings, which should be called, “The Boucher Admiration and Adoration Society,“ annual gatherings. He’s lied. In these meetings, and in his correspondence, or better stated which ever of his lackies wrote the letter lied.

He, just last week, spoke in favor of what amounts to the largest tax increase in U. S. history. By doing so, he sided with the most left-wing environmental extremist in the country, and told us in the coalfields, tough luck. This, even though the there is now, considerable beleif that CO2 emissions have very little, if any effect on the climate. It’s all about government control, and destroying the coal industry. Obama said it! Boucher supported Obama!

Boucher is a party a hack. He will never swim against the current. Just remember no one remembers the leader who goes with the flow, everyone remembers the one that goes against it.

I have always felt that Rick Boucher has done more for the people in SW VA than anyone who has ever served that area.

I grew up in VA and am always checking to see what he is doing for homefolks.Tourism has been helped greatly through his efforts. This has brought jobs and money which they would not have without his help.

Those being so critical should go down and visit and talk to some of the people he has helped.

As a Tn resident I can honestly say that from my observation Boucher is one of the best by working tirelessly to provide jobs and services for the people of SW VA.  We get lip service, VA gets action.
