Technology’s dark side

I cannot say that I do not enjoy the technologies of this day and age. Their many uses, such as communication, information and data storage, make everyday life much easier. These factors coupled with increasing portability leave little room for improvement. However, as with all great things, there is a downside.

The increasing violence and sexuality encouraged by many of today’s video games, videos and Web sites are definite cons. Also, the ability for anyone to access the Internet with ease allows for predators to target people or their personal information. And for these reasons, I think and believe that we should follow the advice of Henry Thoreau and "simplify, simplify."
