Area Residents Graduating From Emory & Henry

The following Emory & Henry College students received diplomas and special recognition during May 9 commencement exercises.

Student Awards
During the commencement ceremony, several students were recognized for their academic and service achievements. The students include Kyle Clark of Forest and Emma Sturgill of Marion, the recipients of the Byars Medal in Science; Virginia Lamb of Huntsville, Ala., who received the Eleanor Gibson Via Science Award; Chris O’Connor of Seymour, Tenn., who was awarded the Senior Service Award; and Robert Douglas Tullock of Calhoun, Tenn., the recipient of the Snavely Scholarship Prize.

Faculty Award
The College also honored a philosophy professor, Dr. T. Edward Damer, with The William and Martha DeFriece Award. The award, which is given by the E&H Board of Trustees, honors an alumnus or faculty member who has made an outstanding or worthwhile contribution to civilization or humanity.
