Unicoi Co., Tenn.—It’s the American Dream: buy a plot of land, build your first house, and expect to live happily ever after. Things didn’t work out quite that way for a group of homeowners in Unicoi County. The unfinished Homestead Estates subdivision is left unclaimed by the developer and the county. The streets aren’t paved; garbage is left all over; sewers are non-existent. The few residents living there are stuck between finger pointing for who should take responsibility and make improvements. Mayor Greg Lynch wants to wait for legal negotiations. The Unicoi County planning commission will revisit the subdivision issue at the courthouse this Tuesday. Click on the link above for more.
