Tennessee Leaders Try To Keep Johnson City Lottery Office Open
Associated Press
Tennessee leaders say they’re trying their best to prevent the state from completely shutting down the Johnson City lottery office.
Last week, the state announced it was closing the office due to high costs.
Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey and State Senator Rusty Crowe tell us they’ve asked Tennessee Lottery CEO Rebecca Paul to at least keep a part-time office in Johnson City.
Governor Ramsey says he feels confident Paul will strike a compromise so that the office could be open a couple days a week.
When the Johnson City office closes at the end of this year, the nearest lottery office will be in Knoxville.
