A ten year old boy, accidentally shot by his sister last week, has died of his injuries.
The shooting happened two days before Christmas in Ewing, Virginia.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said the boy and his eight year old sister were alone outside a family member’s home when she accidentally fired a gun wounding her brother.
He died Christmas Eve after being removed from life support.
No charges have been filed but detectives continue to investigate the case.

Mrs Stewart,

We live in a world we we demand and expect accountability for everything, even accidents.

Leaving a 7 and 10 year old, alone, unsupervised, with loaded guns is not an ACCIDENT. The shooting may have been an accident but the actions by the father were not.

I agree the NRA has nothing to do with it, properly handled an supervised weapons are safe, it is in a case like this where they were not taught and supervised were things happen.

How about asking other parents to lock away their guns?

Folks, this was an ACCIDENT-and this family is in enough grief without pointing the blame at anyone, including whoever the gun belongs to. Do you not think that they already are feeling this guilt and will for the rest of their lives as well? Put yourself in this family’s shoes-would you want everyone pointing fingers while you grieve the loss of YOUR child??? Praying for them would be alot better, don’t you think?

first of all.. this is a very unfortunate accident I feel sorry for the little girl who will no doubt have to live with this nightmare for rest of her life… I put blame in her father for leaving loaded in gun in their path! if anyone has guns this is wakeup call.. LOCK them UP! or else you get this! I think the father should be charged with neglegence leading to death of his son….you dont leave loaded guns laying around house even for second!

Come on tricities.com, where is the rest of the story, why not tell the poor public that feels so sorry for this man about his criminal record. If you will not report the rest of the story I will. I have never seen such shotty reporting in my life.

Here is the rest of the story !

After reviewing the father’s criminal history and learning he may be a convicted felon and may have previously been charged with child abuse or neglect, they agreed to contact federal authorities to see if they may take the case.

“We believe him to be a convicted felon. Because he has an old criminal history, we’re still working on that,” said Scott. “An item on his criminal history might be in relation to child abuse or neglect. The code section listed covers several types of charges, so we don’t know exactly what that is.
