UPDATE: News Channel 11’s Bill Christian talked with a Sen. Barack Obama campaign official at the Virginia High location. The ticket supplies have run out. There is a waiting list at the Virginia High School location. Your Tri-Cities news Source will have more details today on News Channel 11 at Noon.
###
BRISTOL, Va. – Susie Walling’s children got her interested in the presidential election, so when she learned Tuesday that Barack Obama was bound for Bristol, she knew the family had to attend.
Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, is scheduled to hold a town hall-style meeting at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at Virginia High School. The visit comes just two days after the Illinois senator clenched the Democratic nomination following a six-month battle with Sen. Hillary Clinton. Virginia hasn’t supported a Democrat for president in 44 years but is now considered a battleground, according to the Associated Press.
“Yes, it’s exciting,” Walling said Tuesday night of Obama’s visit. “I have three teenagers who are excited about this election and interested in the candidates. I wasn’t, but they’ve got me excited.”
Walling was among more than 200 who showed up at Virginia High Tuesday night to get tickets to attend Thursday’s gathering. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required, according to a news release from the Obama campaign.
Walling said two of her three children are eligible to vote and one plans to vote for Obama.
Beth Rhinehart of Bristol, Va., was the third person in a line of about 40 people Tuesday night. She was picking up tickets for her three children.
“This is an opportunity for my children to experience seeing a leading presidential candidate,” Rhinehart said. “I think it will be a great thing.”
Come November, Devon Bracher will be eligible to vote and she has already decided to vote for Obama.
“I like the way he brings so much hope to everything,” Bracher said. “I think he really can change things.”
Travis Clark, who also got his tickets Tuesday evening, said he is excited about the senator’s visit.
“I’m kind of shocked,” Clark said. “I’m glad he’s coming. We support him and we want to get all the people we can here.”
About 3,000 people will be admitted. The doors to the gym are scheduled to open at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday.
“They [Obama camp] wanted to come to Southwest Virginia and heard we had a great facility here,” said Virginia High Principal Ina Danko.
She took the call Tuesday morning and helped campaign officials work through the logistics of setting up the event.
“We’re glad for the opportunity to show off our town and our school. We’re kind of excited about it,” Danko said.
Thursday’s event will be the first of two Virginia stops for Obama. At 6 p.m., he is scheduled to attend a rally in Bristow, which is in Northern Virginia.
Ticket distribution for the Bristol event is scheduled to continue from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Virginia High gym at 1200 Long Crescent Drive, Bristol, Va.; the Boucher for Congress campaign office, 137 S. Court St., Abingdon, Va.; and the United Mine Workers office at 2 Right Miners Drive in Castlewood, Va.
For security reasons, those attending should not take bags and personal items should be limited. No signs or banners will be allowed.

MissSherri, you’ll probably find the footage of Michelle Obama’s hate filled speech on a shelf somewhere near the footage of the Loch Ness Monster and Chupacabra . I highly doubt it exists, but I suppose it’s possible.  I do have to say, I’m somewhat relieved at the commentary here.  Maybe I’ve not given Bristolians enough credit, we all seem to see straight thru the Right Wing weirdos.

Wow. Someone sent me this after I posted earlier! Absolutely amazing.

NO way you could refute it, the words were there for you to read but you choose to pick and choose, a typical democrat ploy, spin the words till it fits the situation. Who’d thunk it?

and just what are Obamanation’s view on ANYTHING? He has one of the worst records in Congress for absentee votes.80% of the time he was ABSENT! How can someone be the Chief Excucutive of the US when he’s absent 3/4 of the time?

His stand on the 2nd admendment? Well lets see what the record states

http://www.ontheissues.org/Domestic/Barack_Obama_Gun_Control.htm

Seems like he’s a gun grabber like all his democrap croonies.

Which brings us to the Muslum issue. He claims to be a Chistian but practiced Islam as a boy. His own minister get on TV and spouts off all this anti us retoric and you can’t sit there and tell me that Obamanation didn’t believe it or go along? If so, why didn’t he quit the church then? He quits cause he knew he was about to throw what little chance he had to get elected out the window. If he cannot tell the truth about his muslim past, how can he be trusted to tell the truth about anything? Such as his involvement with Tony Resko? His statement of “I’ve visited 57 states” (curious enough that’s how many Islamic states there are.) and it goes on and on and one.

Vote for who you want, but there’s NO WAY that this ‘person’ should be president.

I would like to know if the tape of Michelle Obama ranting about the white man keeping them down is true?

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/05/31/breaking-news-michelles-whitey-problem/

I also would like to know aobut the sex scandal and drugs if that is true as well?

I would like to know if these are true before I make a decision on whom to vote for in the fall.

I would like to know if the rumor about Larry Sinclair is true.

http://larrysinclair0926.wordpress.com/about/

Also I would like to know if the so called tape the Republicans have showing Michelle Obama ranting about whites keeping them down is true?

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/05/31/breaking-news-michelles-whitey-problem/

I have too many questions I need answered before I consider my vote in the fall.

I would have liked to went to the town hall meeting just to see for myself and hear Senator Obama and see what he is like before making my decision.
But sadly the tickets ran out.

Amen, Concernedcitizen, last I checked we don’t discriminate on race OR religion. Those who do merely perpetuate the backward impression the rest of the nation has on our region.

BTW McCainforPrez links do a GREAT job of refuting his own argument:

—>Most are partisan, not disinterested. But I checked out the first link anyway (“israelinsider.com…“). It seeks to harm Obama but provides a helpful link to a comprehensive, well-sourced refutation on Obama’s site.

—>THE SEATTLE TIMES LINK CITES “a rejoinder to baseless e-mailed rumors that he is a Muslim and poses a threat to the security of the United States.“ (This was a December 2007 Chicago Tribune story shared with sister-newspaper Seattle Times)

—>THE CBS LINK SAYS: “...That background sparked rumors that he had studied in a radical madrasa, or Koranic school – rumors later disproved.“ (April 2007)

—>The USA TODAY LINK merely reports on the confusion people have over his religion thanks to folks like you!

TO McCainforprez: I wish you well in all things. Just remember that McCain might have been president already of not for the smear “whisper” campaign spread by the Bush camp that your guy had an “illegitimate black child.“ (which he did’t because he adopted.. .good for him and Cindy!) Obama’s Muslim issue is the same.

The challenge, I know, is for us to all “smell” the B.S., agree what it is, and help others to avoid stepping on it. Best to all of you. I have work to finish up, but I hope I’ve been respectful of all.

KUDOS to the system admin AND TO ALL OF YOU for not letting this become an out-of-control flame war.

None of those links prove anything, and most are biased. Some are very clearly opinion pieces!  Objective stories present facts that can be proven, and none of the stories offer that.  The USA Today article merely states that 10% of Americans think that Obama is a Muslim.  They could also think that water isn’t wet; that doesn’t make it true.

Having done my research, and being confident in my knowledge, I was curious as to exactly what “proof” would be found at the links provided by McCainForPrez.  I’m still scratching my head. I admit, I only clicked the links for USA Today, CBS, and Seattle Times.  I was trying to keep an open mind, thinking maybe there was something there that would convince me that Obama was a radical, Muslim villian, seeking to destroy our fine country. All I found was information I was already armed with, information that that does not prove McCainForPrez’s points very well.  Obama is going to be our nation’s next President, and he’s going to be right here in Bristol tomorrow. I don’t care if he was born into a Muslim, Buddhist, Agnostic, Southern Baptist, or good old fashioned White Trash family.  He’s the best man for the job, regardless. I wish him the best.

So my question to mccainforprez is what is wrong if he was or is a muslim? He could still run for president. Have you read the constitution article one section 2? Do you want to toss the objective constitution out as well?  How do you feel about races which are different from that of yours?

Old enough to vote…

Are you in such denial that Obama WAS a praticing Muslim that you cannot read the truth? Read on:

Obama himself says the following in an interview with the LA Times:

“We prayed in the mosque, but not seriously,“

So he prayed in the mosque but not seriously??? That’s like another former president saying “I didn’t inhale but I did smoke pot”

It’s simple, ask Obamanation straight out “Have you ever been of the Muslim faith?“

Let me know what kinda of spin he takes
