I am so excited about this! Five Guys is the best!

I would also love to see a Red Robin come to the area….we keep seeing commercials for it but don’t have one!

I would love to see a Steak ‘n’ Shake restaurant in the tri-cities area.  My family loves this restaurant.

Everyone is talking about fat and calories, we need to take into consideration the salt intake as well. EVERYTHING except a salad in a resturaunt is loaded with salt. And resturaunt dressings are loaded with salt. I know, I use to make them. At home, I very rarely use salt. I don’t have to, if you use a variety of spices and seasonings you don’t have to use salt. I have had the same salt in my salt shaker for almost a year. I never even owned a shaker until I get set for Christmas because my family was tired of having to bring their own when they ate at our house. People are just so accustomed to being loaded down with fat and salt that they think they have to have it to taste good. That is so far from the truth. You can make a healthy low-fat, low-calorie meal with no salt at all and it has a wonderful rich taste because you are tasting fresh prepared food. Not something that has been prepared hours or even days ago and reheated over and over.

When I used to work in a grocery store.  The people that were “being bailed out be uncle sam” as you say weren’t buying good for you foods.  The were stuffing their kids faces with ho-ho’s and ding-dongs, chips, soda, and tons of frozen meals.  None of this stuff is any better for you than fast food.  I know that this isn’t the case with everyone.  It really boils down to “everything in moderation”  “eat your vegetables” drink your milk and juice”  Everyone has different priorties, we don’t have to like them, but we can’t change them.

Wow Ben, fiesty, eh? HA HA no,I am not a primma donna, I actually enjoy cooking and after losing my father 2 years ago to a heart attack-I try to take very good care of myself and family. My main point was that it is not our job to judge people and tell people what to do. One raises their family as they see fit and that is their right. God bless you Ben!

Becca, I agree with you totally. It is hard to work full-time and then come home and cook dinner every night. But, I do it four nights through the week and I always cook on weekends, I have all day. That is just the responsibility that I took on when I became a wife and mother. I knew it wouldn’t be easy and lord knows I love my crockpot. Throw it in before work and poof, most of a warm hearty meal is ready when I walk in the door. But really, if you look at the nutritional values of every product at McDonalds, there is no healthy choice there. Even the salads have half or more of the calories you need for the day. Maybe the grilled chicken sandwich. But that is about it.

Okay, first of all, the price for groceries has skyrocketed almost 18% from this same day last year,so eating at home is not always a more wallet concious move.  Secondly, I am a woman and it is not my dream to cook every night. Those days are virtually over.In today’s economy,it takes 2 incomes to even attempt to make it in middle class America.Thirdly, most every restaurant including Mickey D’s have healthy dining choices. Which translates as we are in a free and beautiful land.If one chooses to eat out or eat at home,be overweight,be a career woman or wjatever one chooses, that is one’s God given right and he is the only one who may judge.

More often than not in today’s world it takes both people working to support a family, even if both people are really good with money.  It is a constant stuggle to work full time, run a house full time and to raise children full time the way that they are suppose to be raised. To those family’s that are lucky enough for the wife to stay home, I commend you.  For the rest of us who have both people working, all we can do is our best to provide good meals, and provide good quality time with our family’s in a loving and caring enviroment.  After we do that the rest usually falls into place.

bill, what exactly are you trying to say. Your post didn’t really make sense. I mean I get the part about the wife being at home cooking, but the rest is oblivious to me. And, if men nowadays would get out and work and bring home enough to feed the whole family more women could be home cooking every night.
