More H1N1 Cases Confirmed In Tennessee
The Tennessee Department of Health State Laboratory is now confirming cases of the H1N1 influenza virus. The state will no longer submit all samples to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. The state also announced more confirmed cases of the illness on Thursday.
Many Tennessee cases previously listed as probable are now reported as confirmed. The Tennessee Department of Health said that 36 cases of H1N1 have been confirmed statewide.
Here is the county breakdown:
Davidson County: 18 confirmed cases
Knox County: 8 confirmed cases
Maury County: 1 confirmed case
Shelby County: 1 confirmed case
Williamsom County: 8 confirmed cases
All Tennessee patients are recovering from the illness and have a good prognosis.
Tennessee health officials continues to track the development of the virus across the state and add that the increase in confirmed cases comes with the state’s ability to test and does not necessarily reflect a surge in cases of the virus.
To date, 568 specimens submitted from Tennessee residents have been tested.
