Nick Woods, 12, recovers from car/horse crash injuries
A 12-year-old is swollen, cut and bruised—but he’s ok after a horse came through a car windshield and landed on him.
Nick Woods and his mom Lori Smithey were driving down 19-E near Roan Mountain just after 9:00 pm Sunday night when they hit a horse that was in the road.
Neighbors say about five or six horses had escaped their fence just before the accident.
Woods says that was the first time he had ever known of horses in his neighborhood getting loose.
He has a minor concussion and some chipped teeth.
Smithey only has some minor cuts.
The horse and one other struck by another car had to be put down.

I am glad to hear that these folks lived through it. Ita bad enough hitting a deer or having a deer hit you , horse’s are not predicatble animals and i can immage they are much heavier than a deer and They get spooked even easier.

It’s sad that the horses had to be put down, but I’m glad to see that this family is ok. I’ve been thinking about this boy since I heard about the accident earlier today.
