ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (AP) - A 17-year-old man who was the fourth
inmate to escape from a high-security jail in North Carolina has
been captured.

The Rocky Mount Telegram reports that Chamone Diggins was found
Sunday afternoon in Farmville, about 30 miles north of Tarboro.

Officials said Diggins overpowered guards at the Edgecombe
County jail on Saturday. He was arrested by Pitt County deputies
without incident and returned to the jail in Tarboro.

Diggins was in jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon,
robbery, assault on a female, breaking and entering, larceny and
felony conspiracy in connection with an incident that occurred
early last week.

Three federal prisoners who escaped from the Edgecombe County
jail last week were caught near the West Virginia Capitol after a
police chase.
