ETSU Voices Concerns About Potential King College Medical School

East Tennessee State University spoke publicly for the first time Monday about their concerns about a potential new King College Medical School.

ETSU President Dr.Paul Stanton and Quillen College of Medicine Dean Dr. Phil Bagnell spoke before a Kingsport Board of Mayor and Alderman work session about potential risks involved in building a new medical school.

Dr. Phil Bagnell cited a lack of federal funding for medical residents and a shortage of residency positions in the region.

King College President Dr.Gregory Jordan said that while there may be some pitfalls to an another school King’s addition would enhance what Quillen College of Medicine already has.
