We connect you with new details on a developing story: raw sewage in the storm drains in Elizabethton.

We first told you about the problem Thursday on 11 connects.

After people and merchants complained of the bad odor making its way through town, crews began work to sniff out the source.

They traced dye packs from plumbing systems in each downtown building.

This morning, crews began digging up portions of roadway in the 500 block of East Elk Avenue.

They believe a busted sewer line in the area could be the source of the problem, but crews added there could be other breaks and repair on this line is just one step in the solution.

They will keep checking for other problems in the sewer lines.

Crews said their work today will keep two lanes of Elk Avenue closed most of the day.  One lane will remain open.
