Campaign Signs and Mailboxes Targets of a Crime Spree in Carter County

The Carter County Sheriff’s office arrested Michael Mannis and four juveniles and charged them with theft and vandalism.  Mannis is also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Deputies released the juveniles to their guardians.

Deputies said the group vandalized at least 2 mailboxes and stole more than 50 signs.  30 of those signs were property of candidates in upcoming elections.

Sheriff Chris Mathes said the sheriff’s office patrol division has been aggressively targeting these types of thefts over the last month.
