Electricity bills going down?

If you live in Bristol, Va. as of December 1 – your electricity bills will go down according to a recent press release from Bristol Virginia Utilities (BVU).

According to BVU residential customers will pay an average of 18 percent less for their electricity compared to December of last year, due to a reduction in energy costs by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).

According to Brian Bolling, BVU’s vice president of customer service, the 18 percent drop in electric rates is the result of several factors, including a reduction in TVA’s fuel cost adjustment from last year to this December.

Stacey Bright, BVU’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, says the price break comes at a good time for electric customers.

Sorry priategirl007, as a former Bristol resident and customer of BVU, I long for the days of BVU bills. I now live in Abingdon and not only do I have 6 different utility bills, on average, we pay over $600 more annually in utilities—including electricity (AEP) than when we lived in Bristol in the same sized house.  Wish Abingdon and Washington County could be BVU customers—especially for electricity.  AEP just announced a 16% increase.  Guess I’ll be wearing several layers of clothes to stay warm this winter!

Why the decrease? BVU finally get tired of ripping people off? What about all these years you have been price gouging and all the people that had to pay then? They try to blame it on the TVA’s charges like usual, well then wouldn’t all places that utlizie TVA be getting a decrease in prices? BVU tries to gain their independence from the city and they start cutting prices and helping out their customers, am I the only one that thinks this is NOT a coincidence?
