The Abrasive Manufacturing Technology plant in Johnson City will shut its doors on September 30 of this year.

This news comes from the manufacturer’s parent company in Lewis Center, Ohio.

Manager Bryan Herron at the local plant was contacted earlier today in reference to a Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development report, which stated that 20 jobs would be lost at the plant. Herron stated that he was not allowed to comment.

The state’s report indicates that on July 31, employees will begin to be notified. The plant will close at the end of September.

The plant is located at 168 Roweland Drive in Johnson City.

Abrasive Technology is the world’s leading manufacturer of products that grind, polish and condition surfaces, according to their Web site.
