82-Year-Old Found Dead In Buchanan Co.; Possible Murder

Officials in Buchanan County are investigating another possible murder today.

On Friday, March 20, Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputies report that they responded to a possible murder in the Little Prater area of the county in southwest Virginia. When they arrived, they found 82-year-old Eva Charles Ward.
Ward, of 1012 Ward Ford, Grundy, Va. was found dead with a wire around her neck.

Her body is now in the state lab in Roanoke, Va. where officials are performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Officials with the Sheriff’s Department report that they later discovered a suspect in Ward’s death later in the town of Richlands. This suspect was dead, and police say they think it was a suicide.
