The ETSU Lady Bucs are hoping the third time is the charm. After falling short in the NCAA tournament the past two seasons, this team feels they have the talent, experience, and confidence to pull of an upset this year. "This time we got a chance to win it," says senior guard and conference player of the year Siarre Evans, "and we think we're going to win it, so we're going to come back to Johnson City with a victory." Evans and fellow senior TaRonda Wiles know each game they play from now on could be their last, and that's providing motivation for themselves and the team. "It just makes me want to work harder," says Wiles, "give it my all, sacrifice my body, do whatever and it just makes me want to do whatever it takes to win the game."
Coach Karen Kemp says this team has everything it takes to shock third seeded Xavier on Sunday afternoon, including the intangibles that don't show up in a box score or stat sheet. "If it's heart and determination, this team can get it done definitely," says Kemp, "we gotta play one of our best games of the whole year, but I feel like we can do it.... it's time for us to go and do something that probably no one in the world except us thinks we can do and that's win."
