Former Tennessee High standout Marcus Nidiffer went 2-for-4, leading the Greeneville Astros to a 7-6 Appalachian League victory over the Johnson City Cardinals on Friday night.
Nidiffer connected for a pair of doubles, including one that drove in Telvin Nash in the bottom of the fourth inning. He’s hitting .500 thus far in his professional career.
Christopher Edmondson homered and drove in three runs to lead Johnson City.
Pulaski 8, Burlington 7
James Wood went 3-for-5 and scored two runs as the Pulaski Mariners eked out a win over the visiting Burlington Royals at Calfee Park.
Wood also scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth on a RBI single by Larry Gonzalez.
Danville 9, Bluefield 4
Evan Gattis and Barrett Kleinknecht each had two RBIs as the Danville Braves collected a victory over the Bluefield Orioles.
Kingsport 15, Elizabethton 6
Leadoff hitter ZeErika McQueen went 4-for-6 to lead the Kingsport Mets to a convincing win over the Elizabethton Twins.
