Former Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University standout Chas Byrne was strong in his pitching debut for the Burlington Royals on Wednesday night.

Byrne tossed a scoreless inning of relief in Burlington’s 9-3 Appalachian League victory over the Greeneville Astros.

He entered his first professional game in the ninth inning. He yielded a single to Hector Rodriguez, but struck out Bryce Lane and Jonathan Merritt.

Ryan Stovall went 2-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs to lead the Royals at the plate.

Danville 1, Princeton 0
Ryan Weber and Ronan Pacheco combined on a five-hit shutout as the Danville Braves blanked the Princeton Rays.
Danville’s lone run came in the sixth inning via a sacrifice fly.

Bluefield 14, Pulaski 0
Corey Thomas and Eiris Ramirez each had three hits and three RBIs as the Bluefield Orioles bashed the Pulaski Mariners.

Johnson City 5, Kingsport 4
Leadoff hitter Greg Garcia scored two runs as the Johnson City Cardinals edged the Kingsport Mets.
