JACKSON, Tenn. – Lambuth (Tenn.) University completely dominated the second half in taking a 60-20 victory over the University of Virginia’s College at Wise on Saturday afternoon.
UVa.-Wise (2-3) scored twice in the final 1:32 of the first half to pull within 25-20 at halftime. However, Lambuth (4-0) scored on its first three possessions of the third quarter and scored 35 second-half points to turn the game into a blowout.
Lambuth was dominant on both sides of the ball. The Eagles’ offense racked up 535 yards of total offense, while the defense limited Wise to negative-10 yards rushing.
Lambuth quarterback Adam Wiese threw six touchdown passes to lead the Eagles, who improved to 8-0 all-time against Wise.
UVa.-Wise QB Brad Robbins threw for 335 yards and tossed touchdown passes to Brad Ricker and Matt Barbour. He also rushed for a TD, but threw two interceptions and was sacked eight times.
Jason Lovett had eight receptions for 140 yards, while Barbour hauled in seven catches for 58 yards in the losing effort. Ricker, a former star at John Battle High School, finished with four catches for 62
yards and collected his second touchdown of the season.
UVa.-Wise hosts Georgetown (Ky.) College next Saturday.
