PREP ROUNDUP: Sullivan South's season ends in semifinals

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – Three different players rushed for touchdowns and Columbia finished with 227 yards on the ground in taking a 24-0 victory over Sullivan South on Friday night in the semifinals of the TSSAA Class 5A playoffs.

South was hurt by three interceptions.

Greeneville 21, Whites Creek 14
B.J. Spradlin rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown and Greeneville clinched a spot in the TSSAA Class 4A title game with a victory over Whites Creek.
Quarterback Wes Quarles also rushed for a TD for Greeneville, while Landon Morrison returned a punt for a score.

Alcoa 34, Elizabethton 7
Jaron Toney rushed for four touchdowns and Alcoa rolled past Elizabethton in the semifinals of the TSSAA Class 3A playoffs. Alcoa finished with 426 yards of total offense, compared to just 92 for Elizabethton.

Parking plan for Region D title games
Contingency plans have been announced for today’s Region D championship games at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise.

The Region D, Division 1 title game will feature J.I. Burton (9-2) against Clintwood (9-2) at 12:30 p.m., with the Division 2 matchup between Gate City (10-1) and Lebanon (7-4) to follow. Admission for both games is $7 and gates open at 10:30 a.m.

Due to construction work near the stadium, parking will be provided at UVa.-Wise’s Greear Gymnasium and nearby J.J. Kelly High School. Continues free shuttle service will be provided from – and to – Greear Gym and J.J. Kelly from 10:30 a.m. until the stadium is cleared after the second contest.

Only school buses, handicap vehicles and special passes issued by Region D will be allowed in the main stadium parking lot.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Sullivan East 76, Daniel Boone 44
Sullivan East hit 12 3-pointers and three Patriot players scored in double figures in the semifinals of the Hardee’s Classic.
Trey Gilreath led East (5-0) with 20 points, while Jordan Cross and Chase Depew added 19 points apiece. The Patriots will play Cherokee tonight in the tournament finals.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Tennessee High 84, Sullivan East 39
Blakeley Burleson scored 22 points and handed out five assists and Ashlee Mitchell added 13 as the Vikings rolled to a win over Patriots at Happy Valley.
Rachel Huneycutt poured in 12 points and corralled six boards in the winning effort.

Unaka 80, Tri-Cities 54
Taylor Nidiffer scored 21 points and Unaka defeated rival Tri-Cities Christian. Alicia Cook hit four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, while Becca Leuzinger and Carol Hensley added 10 points apiece for the Eagles.

Morristown West 77, Elizabethton 47
Taylor Hall had 30 points and 15 rebounds as Morristown West rolled past Elizabethton in the Landair Classic in Greeneville.
Kristen Powell led Elizabethton with 14 points.
