JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Rachel Huneycutt hit a layup with two seconds remaining in the game to give the Lady Vikings a 56-55 road victory over Big Nine Conference foe Science Hill.
The game winner was made possible by Danielle Montgomery’s drive to the basket, which drew four defenders and left Huneycutt all alone in front of the basket.
Montgomery found her, and when the ball fell through the twine, the Lady Vikings (16-2, 9-1) collected their ninth conference win of the season.
Sara Wysor scored a team-high 20 points for Tennessee High on six 3-pointers, setting a school record for most 3-pointers in one game in the process. Seventeen of Wysor’s 20 points came after halftime.
The Hilltoppers were led by Johneshia Good, who scored a game-high 24 points.
