JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Rachel Huneycutt hit a layup with two seconds remaining in the game to give the Lady Vikings a 56-55 road victory over Big Nine Conference foe Science Hill.

The game winner was made possible by Danielle Montgomery’s drive to the basket, which drew four defenders and left Huneycutt all alone in front of the basket.
Montgomery found her, and when the ball fell through the twine, the Lady Vikings (16-2, 9-1) collected their ninth conference win of the season.

Sara Wysor scored a team-high 20 points for Tennessee High on six 3-pointers, setting a school record for most 3-pointers in one game in the process. Seventeen of Wysor’s 20 points came after halftime.

The Hilltoppers were led by Johneshia Good, who scored a game-high 24 points.

The Scarlet Hurricanes held the Cavaliers to six points in the first half on their way to a non-district win.

Marion’s Suzy Thompson led all scorers with 18 points, while Brooke Henderson added 10.

Holston (0-13) is still looking for its first win of the season.

Ashley Buckhannon led George Wythe to a heroic Hogoheegee District win on Thursday night with 30 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds. Lacey Price added 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Maroons (9-9, 5-1).
Charlotte Reasor contributed 33 points in Rural Retreat’s loss to GW.
