BRISTOL, Va. Virginia Intermont College suffered an 83-72 women’s basketball loss to Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Reinhardt (Ga.) College on Wednesday night.

Freshman guard Priscilla Moseh led VI with 13 points and five assists, while Haley Odle (12 points) also scored in double digits.

Ca’Star Harper added seven points and nine rebounds for the Cobras.

COLLEGE MEN
King 76, Pikeville (Ky.) 67
Mark Dockery scored 19 points to lead three players in double figures and King College improved to 2-2 with a non-conference road win.
Elisha Murray (19 points) and Stephen Kite (15 points) also led the way for Tornado, which led by as many as 14 points in the opening half.

Greensboro 75, E&H 59
Emory & Henry College fell to 1-5 with a loss at Greensboro. Terrance Grigg led E&H with 15 points, while Josh Rigney contributed 11 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Marion 53, Holston 22
Brooke Henderson scored 15 points, leading Marion to a non-district victory over visiting Holston. Talon Dalton (11 points) also played well for Marion, which had nine different players score.
Kelsey Arrington had six points to lead Holston. Jimmy Brown was making his debut as the Cavaliers’ head coach.

Honaker 44, Lebanon 35
Emily Musick and Rachel Artrip scored 11 points apiece and Honaker opened the season with a win. The Tigers pulled away in the third quarter to clinch the victory. Kendall Helbert’s 10 points led Lebanon.

J.I. Burton 60, Gate City 36
Ra’Shelle Miller eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career in the third quarter and finished with 27 point sas J.I. Burton bashed non-district foe Gate City.
Chelsea Forney added 11 points for Burton. Megan Starnes led Gate City with nine points.

Lee 60, North 40
Makenzie Cluesman had 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Jalan McPherson scored a game-high 20 points in Lee High’s non-district victory over Sullivan North.

Carroll County 71, Patrick County 49
Lindsey Martin and Kayla Goins combined for 41 points — nearly matching Patrick County’s team total — as Carroll County opened the season with a convincing victory.

Grundy 70, Council 57
Loni Webb led four players in double figures with 20 points as the Golden Wave opened the season with a victory. Samantha Owens added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Grundy, while Krystal Cantrell tallied 15 points.
Chelsea McGlothlin’s 21 points paced Council.

Holiday Hoops tips off today
The 12th annual Frank “Doc” Maples Holiday Hoops Invitational begins today at Viking Hall with three games.
Volunteer plays Elizabethton at 5 p.m. followed by Tennessee High vs. Mitchell County (6:30) and Sullivan East vs. Archbishop Carroll, D.C. (8 p.m.). The tournament runs through Saturday and admission is $5 per day.

Tenn. Avenue Christian 46, Greeneville Adventists 37
Samantha Blevins had 15 points and 14 rebounds as Tennessee Avenue Christian Academy opened the season with a victory over the Greeneville Adventists.
Sara Fox added 14 points for TACA, while Emily Fox and Victoria Cox combined for 17 rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Grundy 51, Council 46
John Kelly had 20 points and 14 points and keyed a 9-2 run in the fourth quarter that put the game away, giving Grundy a non-district win. Derek Hess added 12 points for Grundy, while Chris Tiller had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Council.

Lee 72, North 70
Lee High overcame a 13-point second-quarter deficit to win in overtime over non-district foe Sullivan North. Caleb Bledsoe (22 points) and Tyler Maggard (21 points) led the way for Lee.

Tenn. Avenue Christian 64, Greeneville Adventists 53
The Tennessee Avenue Christian Academy topped the Greeneville Adventists thanks to 21 points, 11 rebounds and three steals from Jason Pugh.
Josiah Morton (16 points), Jacob Morton (13 points), Seth Embree (eight points, four rebounds, three steals) also keyed the victory for the Crusaders.
