Willis was a Travel Ball All American in 2006. His high school record after 3 seasons is 23-7 with an Earned Run Average of 2.92, to go with 187 strikeouts.
As a sophomore with Gibbs HS he was 9-3 - Made the All State Super Sophomore Team and Made All District, and pitched Gibbs to the State Tournament by throwing a shutout at Unicoi County in the Substate game 5-0. In his junior year, he once again went 9-3, made the All District, All Region Team, and All KIL and News Sentinel Teams.
