Kevin Barker was promoted to the the Cincinnati Reds from Class AAA Louisville on Friday afternoon and joined the team before Friday night’s home game with the Washington Nationals.
Barker, who played at both John Battle and Virginia High during his prep career, last played in the majors in 2006 for Toronto. The 34-year-old journeyman was hitting .284 with 22 home runs and 68 RBIs for Louisville at the time of his promotion.
Barker has played in 97 career major league games with Milwaukee, San Diego and Toronto. He's also played in 1,537 career minor league games with six different organizations.
